- About
the material
- What
is Ezedeck?
- Ezedeck
is a
thermoplastic
composite
material
manufactured
from virgin and
recycled
styrene. Ezedeck
components can
be utilised to
provide almost
any decking
design in a
beautiful rich
cherry or
antique elm
colour. The
Ezedeck material
can be machined,
sawn, planed and
fixed with
normal wood
techniques.
- Is
Ezedeck a hollow
profile like
PVC?
- Ezedeck
profiles are all
solid sections
just like wood
- Do
extreme
temperature
changes effect
Ezedeck?
- The
decking system
will expand and
contract with
temperature
change as will
most materials.
The product
design and
function allows
this to occur.
In the UK, you
should allow 4
to 5mm where
board ends abut
for expansion to
occur.
- How
does Ezedeck
compare to other
plastic timber
products?
- Ezedeck
is unique, in
that it looks
and feels like
professionally
finished wood,
offering an
incredible wood
grain
appearance.
Ezedeck has all
the benefits of
other plastic
timber products,
making it
virtually
maintenance
free. With its
engineered
profiles and
simple fixing
system, Ezedeck
provides the
best buy on the
market for new
or replacement
decks.
- Will
the colour fade?
- The
unique wood
grain
colouration is
consistent
throughout the
product and will
not fade to
grey. UV
inhibitors are
added to the
product during
the
manufacturing
process to
ensure that the
beauty will
last. Over time
the glossy
finish of
Ezedeck will
weather to a
matte finish
further
enhancing the
natural look of
real wood.
- Will
insects, rot or
fungus damage
Ezedeck?
- No.
Ezedeck is
totally
resistant to
rot, insect
attack or fungal
decay as it does
not contain any
organic matter
and so does not
provide a
suitable
environment for
insects and
micro-organisms.
- How
long will an
Ezedeck last?
- Provided
the deck is
installed
correctly and
not abused it
will never rot
and could last
for generations
- Warranty
- What
is the warranty?
- Ezedeck,
the complete
decking system
comes with a
Lifetime Limited
Warranty. The
product (a) is
rot, and water
resistant (b) is
free from damage
by fungal
decays, (c) will
not splinter or
crack when fixed
correctly (e) is
otherwise free
from defects in
material and
workmanship.
This product is
a quality
engineered
thermoplastic
composite
extrusion and
contains no wood
content. Full
warranty details
are supplied
with the
product.
- Working
with Ezedeck
- What
are the
construction
features of
Ezedeck?
- Ezedeck
has high tensile
and compression
strength and can
be manufactured
to meet precise
specifications.
It requires no
maintenance
other than the
occasional
wipe-over or
brushing. It can
be made to look
and feel exactly
like any
hardwood and
could be
produced in any
colour including
'non-wood'
colours. Ezedeck
can be worked in
exactly the same
way as timber
using identical
tools and
requires no
painting or
varnishing
(although the
surface will
accept a range
of paint
finishes). It is
resistant to the
bleaching
affects of
chemicals such
as chlorine,
making it ideal
for use around
pools and tubs
- Can
I paint Ezedeck?
- Ezedeck
readily accepts
acrylic water
based paints and
stains. However
due to the
incredible
appearance and
characteristics
of the product,
painting is not
required. Do not
use oil-based
stains on
Ezedeck due to
the nature of
the
thermoplastic
material.
- What
are the
dimensions and
specifications
of Ezedeck
system profiles?
- The
decking board
135 mm x 38 mm
weighs 2
kg/metre and is
available in 2.5
m, 3 m and 4 m
lengths. The
decking board is
structurally
designed to span
joists that are
40 mm centres.
- The
balustrading is
designed as both
a top and bottom
rail, available
in a boxed set
and will make up
to a maximum of
1.6 m railing
section, the
boxed set
includes the top
and bottom rail,
13 nr.
Spindles/balusters
(pre-grooved for
easy assembly)
and spacer bars
to fit between
spindles
(balusters).
Most building
regulations
require maximum
100 mm spaces
between
balusters.
- The
Railing Post
provides a 100
mm x 100 mm post
and is designed
to slide over a
50 mm external
size galvanised
steel pipe. End
boards (150 mm x
12 mm) are used
to finish (clad)
around the
outside of the
deck and
substructure.
Feature Spindles
are also
available
(ordered as an
extra item)
pre-grooved to
slide into the
balustrade
sections.
- How
does one work
with Ezedeck?
- Ezedeck
can be cut and
drilled just
like wood.
Carbide blades (TCT)
and rapid cuts
are recommended
in order to
reduce friction,
heat build up
and melting. A
mitre saw or
handsaw makes
beautiful clean
cuts with all
components of
the decking
system. Ezedeck
is lighter (2.0
Kgs/m) in weight
than wood and
other plastic
decking
materials due to
its profiled
shape. The
entire decking
system, from
T-clip to
railing assembly
is based on
simplicity and
function and is
very "user
friendly".
There are seven
components to
the decking
system, decking
board, t-clips,
handrail,
baluster,
railing posts,
steel pipes,
cladding.
- Care
of Ezedeck
- What
are the safety
features of
Ezedeck?
- Ezedeck
eliminates the
need for
preservatives
that contain
hazardous
chemicals such
as arsenic.
- Is
Ezedeck
slippery?
- The
decking board
has very good
traction wet and
dry. The
inherent
qualities of
Ezedeck reduce
slippage
commonly found
on painted and
stained wood
decking across
the UK. The
surface has good
grip for bare
feet or shoes,
wet or dry!
- Do
saltwater,
chlorinated pool
water or mould
affect Ezedeck?
- The
Ezedeck material
is virtually
impervious to
water, including
salt water and
chlorinated pool
water. Mould is
less likely to
be a problem
with Ezedeck
because there
are no natural
wood fibres. It
should be noted
however, that
mould will
appear almost
anywhere under
continuous
moist, and damp
conditions.
- How
does one clean
Ezedeck?
- A
simple spray
with your garden
hose or power
wash will clean
the surface of
your Ezedeck
decking. Ezedeck
may scratch and
dent like wood
but will not
discolour
because the
colour runs
throughout the
product.
- Environmental
issues
- How
does Ezedeck
benefit the
environment?
- Ezedeck
reduces the
harvesting of
hard- and
softwoods and
the
consequential
environmental
impacts
particularly on
tropical
rainforests.
- It
makes use of the
vast amounts of
styrene waste
produced each
day, taking it
out of the
bio-chain on a
semi-permanent
basis and
produces little
waste in
manufacture -
any waste can be
recycled back
into the
manufacturing
process at the
compound
production
stage.
- The
manufacture of
Ezedeck has
minimal
environmental
impact - it
requires less
power to produce
finished
profiles than a
timber-mill
would use to
saw, sand and
mill lumber into
unformed timber
lengths and has
none of the
waste
production.
- Ezedeck
requires no
preservatives
thus reducing
the production
of potentially
hazardous
chemicals and
leeching into
the surrounding
ecosystem.
